The Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (Ph.D.) is a research-oriented doctorate in the  School of Nursing that focuses on global issues and public policy associated with the health of vulnerable populations. The program prepares nurse scientists whose research trajectory will expand the substantive knowledge base that informs nursing education, nursing practice, and nursing leadership. Hence, scholarly inquiry related to health disparities in underserved minority populations prepare doctoral students for nursing research, and faculty positions in academic, clinical, and administrative settings.
